JACK PACE MEMORIAL SHIELD - GRAND FINAL

Congratulations to Joey Clarke and his team on their successful defence of the JPS at Goddard Oval, Concord yesterday against a gallant Yaralla CC.

That makes it 3 straight years, and 4 out of the last 5 years, the OACC has won this coveted knock out competition, contested in Season 2023-2024 by 17 Sydney, City & Suburban Cricket Club's.

This feat is unprecedented in the history of the JPS Tournament.

A punishing opening partnership (Joey Clarke 42 & Luke Jobson 40), laid the foundations for what was to follow:

Tommy Goh 74 off 59 balls (don't tell Andrew McDonald & George Bailey), and Kaustav Karan 69 no. off 61 balls plundered the Yaralla attack and did the damage in the middle order.

Although the game was played on Yaralla Cricket Club's home ground; 254 runs @ 7.3 per over was always going to be extremely tough to chase down......even on a fast Goddard Oval outfield.

Steven Goh (4 for 17 off 7) and David Goh (1 for 14) ripped into the Yaralla top order thwarting the opposition's challenge.

Luke Jobson completed a fine match taking 1 for 2; Vrushab Kumar, Charlie Sato and Henry Sekzenian took the remaining wickets and cleaned up the tail.

The dominant OACC bowling performance was backed up in the field with some fantastic catches and superb ground fielding.

Truly, an exemplary all round OACC team performance.

Naturally, the team celebrated "big time" last night.

This was an outstanding achievement by an extremely talented OACC X1.........a team that has bonded closely in recent years developing great camaraderie and lifelong friendships.
